Arens de Lledó is a tiny municipality in the Matarraña comarca of Tarragona province, and like hundreds of other Aragonese and Catalan villages, its local council issued emergency paper fractional currency during the Spanish Civil War after metallic coin effectively vanished from circulation by mid-1936. The Consejo Municipal series from this area is among the most geographically obscure in the entire Gari catalogue, with surviving examples from some townships numbering in the single digits.
Gari Mon#181-H places this within a documented but sparsely represented group. Paper quality and hand-stamp inconsistencies are common across the Matarraña municipal issues.
