Alquife is a small mining village in the Alpujarras district of Granada province, and like hundreds of Spanish municipalities during the Civil War, its local council issued emergency fractional paper when coins vanished from circulation entirely in 1936–37. The 25 céntimos denomination is typical of the lowest tier of these municipal issues — small enough that production was often rudimentary, frequently little more than a typed or rubber-stamped slip on whatever paper was at hand.
The Gari Mon reference is incomplete, which is not unusual for Alquife specifically — minor Granadan municipal issues remain incompletely catalogued.
