Aldea del Rey is a small municipality in the province of Ciudad Real, Castilla-La Mancha. Like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, it issued its own fractional emergency currency when Republican-zone coinage effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply absent. The Consejo Municipal issues of 1937 were a local solution to a local paralysis, with no central authority coordinating design or production standards.

The Gari Mon cataloguing system remains the primary reference for these Spanish Civil War municipal issues, and Aldea del Rey's 25 Céntimos is a minor entry in a very large field. Thick card stock construction is consistent with small print runs produced on whatever materials the town had available.
