Alcaracejos is a small municipality in the northern Sierra Morena of Córdoba province. In 1937, with the Spanish Civil War severing reliable access to small-denomination coinage, hundreds of local councils across Republican-held Spain issued their own emergency paper scrip under authorization from the central government — these are collectively catalogued as "billetes locales" and Alcaracejos produced at least this one known type.
The Garrido Mora reference (Gari Mon) remains the primary catalogue for these municipal emissions; the #76-A designation suggests at least one variant exists within the series. Survival rates for these tiny scrip notes are unpredictable — some municipalities printed very small runs, others printed far more than local commerce could absorb.
