Albalate de Cinca is a small municipality in the Huesca province of Aragon, and like hundreds of similar towns it issued emergency fractional currency during the Spanish Civil War after Republican-zone coinage effectively vanished from circulation in 1936–37. These locally produced notes — often typed, rubber-stamped, or hand-signed by the municipal secretary — were strictly theoretical tender beyond the issuing town's own shops and markets.
The Gari Monerris catalog documents considerable variation within Civil War municipal issues, and the "-C" suffix here indicates a recognized subtype, likely distinguishable by signature, stamp color, or paper batch rather than any fundamental redesign.
