Obverse description Central round perforation flanked by the large monogram 'RF' (République Française) in bold relief, surmounted by a Phrygian helmet in profile facing left. The monogram and helmet are framed by two symmetrical oak branches in high relief, their acorns and lobed leaves rendered with fine naturalistic detail. The engraver's signature 'EM LINDAUER' appears in small incuse lettering at the base of the design. A rope-pattern border encircles the entire design near the rim. The overall composition is bold and decorative, characteristic of Lindauer's Art Nouveau-influenced style.
