| Obverse description | The Guatemalan national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a resplendent quetzal bird perched atop a scroll inscribed with the independence declaration date, flanked by crossed rifles and swords and framed by laurel branches. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE GUATEMALA runs along the upper periphery, while the silver fineness mark 0.720 appears in the lower left of the exergue and the date of issue to the lower right. The overall design is rendered in high relief with finely detailed heraldic elements characteristic of mid-twentieth-century Latin American coinage. |
