Additional information

Haitham bin Tariq Al Said acceded to the Sultanate on 11 January 2020, following the death of Qaboos bin Said, who had ruled since 1970 and left no designated heir. The transition was managed within hours under a sealed succession letter — a mechanism Qaboos himself had established. Coins bearing Haitham's name began appearing within months of his accession, making this among the earliest physical numismatic evidence of the new reign.
