| Obverse description | The obverse features a bold geometric design composed of two overlapping diagonal bands forming a diamond-shaped central field, within which the denomination numeral '25000' is prominently displayed in large raised lettering above the inscription 'TOLARJEV'. The legend 'REPUBLIKA SLOVENIJA' arcs along the upper right periphery of the coin, while the date '2006' appears inverted along the lower left periphery, reflecting the rotational symmetry of the design. |

Anton Aškerc (1856–1912) was a Slovenian Catholic priest who abandoned clerical life to write poetry — his ballads and romances drew heavily on South Slavic oral tradition and positioned him as one of the first major secular voices in Slovenian literature. This coin was issued in the year marking the 150th anniversary of his birth, part of the Bank of Slovenia's long-running commemorative gold program that accelerated notably in the final years before the country adopted the euro in January 2007, making issues like this among the last gold tolarjev denominateed coins the republic would produce.
