The header bears the issuing authority name in Greek capitals within a panel, below which the designation ΤΑΜΕΙΑΚΟΝ ΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΟΝ (Treasury Bond) and its purpose for agricultural produce collection are stated in Greek text. The large denomination numeral 25.000 is printed in bold across the centre against a lightly printed underprint rosette, with ΔΡΑΧΜΑΙ below. The body of the note carries a full Greek text outlining the redemption obligation by the Bank of Greece, dated 26 November 1942, with a serial number in red, two manuscript signatures, and marginal legislative references printed vertically on both sides.

Comments

Greece's wartime occupation government issued Agricultural Treasury Bonds beginning in 1941 as a mechanism to absorb the catastrophic inflation triggered by Axis requisitioning of food and goods. The 25,000 Drachmai denomination of 1942 belongs to a series that was not conventional currency in origin — these instruments were technically bonds, but in practice they circulated as banknotes because the regular currency had become nearly worthless. By late 1944, hyperinflation had progressed to the point where billions of drachmai were needed for ordinary transactions.

Pick 136 is among the notes printed under the collaborationist administration, a fact that complicates its archival history.
