Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate quartered coat of arms of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, surmounted by a ducal crown. The shield displays multiple heraldic charges including lions and other dynastic devices associated with the House of Welf. A circular Latin legend surrounds the arms, reading CAROLUS GUILIELMUS FERDINANDUS, identifying the reigning duke Charles William Ferdinand. The entire design is contained within a toothed or beaded inner border, with reeding visible at the coin's periphery.
