Obverse description Armored bust of Duke Johann Christian facing right, depicted with long hair and wearing elaborate plate armor with a ruffled collar, set within a beaded inner circle. The peripheral Latin legend reads IOHANN CHRISTIAN D G DVX SILESIÆ LIGNICENSIS ET BREGENSIS, identifying the ruler by name and title. The portrait is rendered in the typical Germanic Kipper period style, with bold relief and relatively crude workmanship characteristic of emergency wartime coinage. The bust occupies the majority of the field, leaving little open space around it.
