Obverse description Crowned and armored bust of Frederick V, Elector Palatine and King of Bohemia, facing right, wearing a ruffled collar and elaborately decorated armor. The effigy is rendered in the portrait style typical of early 17th-century German hammered coinage. The denomination numeral '24' appears in the lower field. The circular Latin legend reads FRIDERICUS D G REX BOHEMIAE, interrupted by the crowned bust. The overall style reflects the brief reign of the 'Winter King' during the tumultuous opening of the Thirty Years' War.
