Obverse description Central field displays the arms of the City of Bremen: a heraldic shield bearing two crossed keys in saltire, surmounted by a crown with fleur-de-lis finials. The date is divided across the field, with '16' to the left and '72' to the right of the shield. The denomination '24 GROT' appears in the lower portion of the field, with the engraver's initials 'HL' at the very base. A circular legend encircles the design, separated from the central device by a beaded inner border, with a milled outer rim.
