Obverse description Bare head of a river deity facing right, depicted with open mouth emitting a stream of water, a common personification of a local river god in Roman provincial coinage. The portrait is rendered in a provincial style with summary engraving characteristic of early Augustan Hispanian issues. The surrounding legend, arranged in a circular arc around the periphery of the flan, reads PERM CAESA AVG, indicating the coin was struck by permission of the emperor Augustus. A dotted border frames the design.
