| Reverse description | Central field features a caduceus or similar civic emblem rendered in relief, around which the magistrates' names and titles are disposed in two registers. The surrounding legend reads SALASSO COMITIALE SEX RVFO II VIR in the outer circle, with L CLODIO RVFO PROCOS completing the inscription, naming the duoviri and the proconsul responsible for the issue. The lettering is deeply cut but somewhat crowded on the irregular flan, typical of Roman provincial bronze coinage from Sicily under Augustus. The reverse design reflects the civic pride of Agrigentum and its local magistrates who were granted authority to strike coinage under Roman oversight. |
