| Obverse description | Conjoined effigies of the Portuguese royal couple facing right, the queen elaborately coiffed with floral and foliate ornaments in her hair, both figures draped. The host coin legend runs around the periphery in Latin. A rectangular countermark bearing the value '22' with a small eagle below is applied to the lower center of the field, and multiple square 'S' countermarks are impressed at the cardinal points around the edge. A central piercing is present in the field. |
