| Obverse description | Bare head of Emperor Augustus facing left, rendered in a naturalistic portrait style typical of early Imperial Roman provincial coinage. The effigy exhibits finely articulated facial features, with the legend PERM CAES AVG distributed around the periphery of the flan, indicating the coin was struck by imperial permission. The portrait occupies the central field with little remaining space, consistent with the modest flan size of this Æ denomination. The overall style reflects the local die-cutting tradition of the Hispanic mint at Italica. |
