Reverse description The reverse features a large bust of Napoleon Bonaparte facing slightly left in the right portion of the field, with flowing hair and an open collar in the neoclassical style. To the left, a detailed vignette depicts an early proposal for a Channel Tunnel, rendered as an unrolled scroll or architectural plan showing a twin-arch tunnel with horse-drawn carriages below and sailing ships on the sea above, with a coastal town and the date '1802' inscribed on the scroll. Twelve five-pointed stars arc across the upper and lower periphery of the field in reference to the European Union, framing the denomination '21 ECUS' inscribed in two lines at the bottom of the field.
