Reverse description Three upright corn-ears (grain stalks) arranged side by side in the central field, flanked on the left by a Heracles club shown vertically. The civic legend of Kallatis is inscribed in two lines in Greek characters, divided as ΚΑΛΛ above and ΑΤΙΑ below, referencing the issuing city. The reverse type reflects the agricultural prosperity and Dorian colonial identity of Kallatis on the Black Sea coast. The devices are boldly rendered, though somewhat worn and partially obscured by patination.
