| Obverse description | The obverse displays the host coin's central field bearing the denomination '2 SOUS' within an inner circle, surmounted by the applied rectangular 'TBO' countermark of Tobago, punched directly into the host coin's surface. The peripheral legend of the underlying French Guiana 2 Sous piece reads 'COLONIE DE CAYENNE' around the circumference, with a crowned fleur-de-lis ornament at the top and a mintmark 'A' (Paris) at the base. The dotted border of the original host coin remains visible along the rim. The countermark punch is prominently raised against the worn field of the host coin. |
