| Reverse description | A majestic five-clawed imperial dragon depicted in full frontal aspect, its head prominently facing the viewer at centre, with a scaly serpentine body coiling across the field amid stylised clouds and flames. The dragon clutches a flaming pearl beneath its body, emblematic of imperial power in Vietnamese court iconography. Four Chinese characters are disposed around the dragon in cruciform arrangement: 龍 (dragon) at top, 雲 (clouds) at bottom, 天 (heaven) to the right, and 會 (assembly/gathering) to the left. The entire composition is executed in high relief, characteristic of Nguyễn Dynasty cast gold coinage, with fine detailing on the dragon's scales, claws, and mane rendered with considerable artisanal skill. |
