Obverse description Unadorned bare head of King William IV facing right, rendered in high relief with naturalistic portrait style. The king's hair is depicted in loose, informal curls consistent with his mature likeness. The circumferential legend reads WILHELM IV KOENIG V GR BRIT U HANNOVER B, separated from the portrait by a beaded inner border. The mintmaster's initial B appears at the base of the truncation near the lower border. The field is smooth and the overall composition reflects the neoclassical engraving conventions of the Hanoverian mint in the 1830s.
