| Obverse description | Elaborately quartered coat of arms of the Duchy of Brunswick, flanked on either side by laurel branches tied at the base with a ribbon, surmounted by a ducal crown. The heraldic shield displays multiple quarters incorporating lions, horses, and other dynastic charges in high relief. The circumferential legend reads CARL HERZOG ZU BR • U • LUEN • arranged around the shield, with the legend running from the lower left upward and around in medal alignment. |

| Reverse description | The denomination 2 1/2 is displayed prominently in the upper portion of the field, flanked by two small decorative rosette or floral ornaments at either side, with the word THALER in large bold letters below.
