| Obverse description | The Sudanese state eagle displayed with wings spread, clutching a shield at its breast, occupies the central field. A scroll above the eagle's head bears the Arabic legend 'النصر لنا' (Victory is Ours). The dual dates '1976' (Gregorian) and '١٣٩٦' (Hijri) are inscribed to the left and right of the eagle respectively. A lower scroll carries the legend 'جمهورية السودان الديمقراطية' (Democratic Republic of the Sudan). The design is rendered in high relief against a smooth field, enclosed within a reeded border. |
