The surrounding legend reads CAROLVS GVIL. FERD. D. G. DVX BR. ET LV., identifying the issuing ruler Charles William Ferdinand by name and title in abbreviated Latin. The mint-master initials M·C· appear in the lower field beneath the horse. The design is rendered in low relief typical of late 18th-century German copper coinage. |
