Obverse description Left-facing bust of Emperor Maximilian I, depicted with long flowing hair beneath an elaborate floral crown or wreath, wearing a richly draped garment with an ornate jewelled collar visible at the truncation. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Renaissance portrait style characteristic of the Hall Mint. The date 1514 appears in the field at the lower right of the bust. A Latin legend encircles the portrait within a raised rim, reading MAXIMILIANVS ROMANORVM IMPERATOR SEMPER AVGVSTVS ARCHIDVX AVSTRIE.
