Reverse description Central shield bearing the Belgian lion rampant, surmounted by the royal crown and flanked on either side by the denomination numerals 2 1/2 to the left and F. to the right. The shield is encircled by a laurel and olive wreath tied at the base with a ribbon bow, beneath which the date 1865 appears in the exergue. The motto L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE (Unity makes Strength) curves along the upper periphery, with the whole design enclosed within a beaded border.
