Reverse description Central shield bearing the Belgian lion rampant, surmounted by a royal crown, and flanked symmetrically by laurel and oak branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The denomination 2 1/2 appears to the left and F. to the right of the shield at mid-field. The date 1850 is inscribed in the lower exergual area between the branch terminals. The motto L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE curves along the upper periphery as the encircling legend, consistent with the standard Belgian heraldic reverse type of the period.
