| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Liberty in high relief, her hair elaborately coiled and gathered at the nape with a tiara or coronet inscribed PIKES PEAK. Flowing curls cascade to the truncation of the bust. Thirteen six-pointed stars are arranged in a semicircle around the upper field, referencing the original states. The date 1861 appears prominently in the lower exergue. A bold dentillated border frames the design. |
