Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Liberty wearing a close-fitting cap inscribed LIBERTY across the band, with curled locks of hair visible beneath the cap and falling to the truncation. Thirteen six-pointed stars are arranged around the periphery of the field, seven to the left and six to the right. The date appears in the lower exergue below the bust truncation. The design is executed in high relief with fine neoclassical detailing characteristic of the Capped Head type.
