Reverse description A heraldic eagle displayed with spread wings occupies the central field, its breast bearing a vertical-striped shield. The eagle clutches an olive branch in its right talon and a bundle of three arrows in its left, with its head turned to the viewer's right. A curved ribbon banner above the eagle bears the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM in raised letters. The peripheral legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs around the upper and side margins, while the denomination 2 1/2 D. appears in the lower field beneath the eagle.
