Obverse description The coat of arms of the Netherlands Antilles occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield with six stars representing the six constituent islands of the territory, accompanied by the motto ribbon bearing the Latin legend LIBERTATE UNANIMUS. The country name NEDERLANDSE ANTILLEN arcs along the upper periphery, with the date appearing in the lower portion of the legend. Coins of this series bear a cock privy mark denoting the Utrecht Mint. The six-star composition of the shield reflects the pre-1986 configuration, prior to Aruba's secession from the federation.
