Reverse description The reverse features a central inscription in Jawi (Arabic-script Malay) within a beaded inner circle, conveying the denomination as one-fortieth of a Rupiah. Surrounding this inner circle, along the outer rim, runs a corresponding legend in Javanese script (Hanacaraka) expressing the same value. A small floral ornament appears at the top of the coin between the two script zones. The bilingual design reflects the multicultural administrative context of the Dutch colonial East Indies, and both legends are rendered in raised relief against a plain field.
