Obverse description Draped bust of Queen Isabella II facing right, her hair elaborately braided and gathered at the nape with a ribbon, uncrowned. The legend ISABEL II POR LA GRACIA DE DIOS Y LA CONST. curves along the upper periphery, while the date 1867 appears in the lower exergue. The portrait is rendered in a refined neoclassical style with delicate high relief, surrounded by a continuous beaded border.

Reverse description Central shield bearing the quartered arms of Castile, León, Aragon, and Granada, surmounted by a royal crown. The shield is flanked by olive and laurel branches at the base. The words ESSAI and BRONZE appear in the field to the left and right of the crowned arms respectively, and the mint master initials OM are positioned below the shield. The upper legend REINA DE LAS ESPAÑAS curves around the top, while 2½ CENTIMOS DE ESCUDO runs along the lower periphery, all within a beaded border.
