Obverse description Central field bears the crowned cantonal shield of Solothurn — divided horizontally with vertical striping in the upper half — set within a wreath of laurel and olive branches tied at the base. The mural crown surmounts the shield. The circular legend CANTON SOLOTHURN with the date 1826 runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 2 1/2 BAZ appears in the lower field beneath the wreath, all in Latin characters.
