Reverse description A dignified bust of Bolesław II Śmiały (Bolesław the Bold), King of Poland, faces forward in three-quarter portrait, wearing a jewelled crown and a chainmail hauberk with decorative collar detail. His long hair falls to his shoulders and he bears a short beard, conveying a medieval regal character in a finely engraved style. To the upper left of the portrait the legend BOLESŁAW II is inscribed, with PRÓBA (trial strike) below it, while ŚMIAŁY appears to the upper right. The regnal dates 1058 and 1079 are placed in the lower field flanking the base of the bust, indicating the years of his reign. The overall design is set against a smooth, polished field with crisp, high-relief portraiture.
