The Year of the Rooster gold series marked the final lunar issue produced under the old Chinese Lunar Gold Coin program before the People's Bank of China restructured the series format in 2018, shifting to a standardized weight system aligned with international bullion norms. The 150g piece occupied the top of the denomination ladder for that year's release, with total mintages across the lunar gold program tightly controlled by the PBoC and allocated primarily through authorized domestic banks and select international distributors.
