| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Uganda occupies the central field, featuring a shield supported by a Uganda kob (antelope) to the left and a grey crowned crane to the right, with crossed spears behind the shield and a drum and floral motifs at the base. A scroll at the bottom of the arms bears the national motto FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY. The legend BANK OF UGANDA arcs along the upper periphery, the date 19 96 is divided at left and right in the mid-field, and the denomination 2000 SHILLINGS curves along the lower periphery. The design is executed in high relief against a mirrored proof field, with a beaded border encircling the entire obverse. |
