Additional information

Uganda issued a series of world landmark silver pieces in the mid-1990s through arrangements typical of the commemorative coin trade — designs commissioned externally, minted in Europe, and sold almost entirely to foreign collectors rather than circulating domestically. The Taj Mahal piece belongs to that batch. It has no meaningful connection to Ugandan monetary history.

The coins were legal tender in name only.
