Uganda's commemorative program in the mid-2000s leaned heavily on licensing agreements that had nothing to do with Ugandan history or monetary policy — this piece being a case in point. The "Aldair" name references a licensed fantasy or fictional branding rather than any figure or event connected to Uganda itself, a practice common among smaller issuing authorities contracting through European distributors like B.H. Mayer or Coin Invest Trust to generate collector revenue.
Silver-plated copper-nickel was the standard cost-reduction choice for this revenue tier — the margin on a pure silver issue rarely justified the licensing fees.
