Obverse description The Indonesian national emblem, the Garuda Pancasila, is depicted centrally in the field — a stylised mythological eagle with wings spread wide, its head turned to the right, and a heraldic shield on its breast bearing the five symbols of the Pancasila state philosophy. A scroll beneath the Garuda bears the national motto in the lower field. The legend BANK INDONESIA arcs across the upper periphery, with the date 1974 positioned in the field above the Garuda's head. The motto BHINNEKA TUNGGAL IKA (Unity in Diversity) appears on the ribbon scroll at the base of the device.
