Obverse description Central field features the Imperial Iranian coat of arms: a lion passant holding an upraised scimitar before a rising sun, surmounted by the Pahlavi Crown, all set upon a decorative base. Encircling the central device is an Arabic legend reading the full royal titulature of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi Aryamehr, Shahanshah of Iran, arranged in a curved band. Below the coat of arms, the denomination is inscribed in both Persian (۲۰۰۰ ریال) and Latin script (2000 RIALS), with the dual dates 1971 and ۱۳۵۰ appearing in the lower exergue. The entire design is bordered by a decorative wreath composed of twenty-five stylized Persepolis architectural motifs, each repeated around the circumference to commemorate the 2,500th anniversary of the founding of the Persian Empire. The fineness mark 900 is discreetly placed in the right field.
