| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned Portuguese royal arms: a quartered shield bearing five escutcheons in saltire each charged with five bezants (the quinas), encircled by a bordure of castles, the whole surmounted by an ornate royal crown with trefoil finials. The denomination numeral 2000 appears to the left of the shield in the field. A circular legend surrounds the central device, separated from the inner design by a plain inner rim and an outer beaded border. |
