The 2000 Pesos Dominicanos denomination was introduced in 2014 as the highest value note in Dominican circulation, a direct response to years of inflation eroding the practical utility of the 1000-peso note. By the mid-2010s, a 1000-peso bill covered little more than a modest restaurant meal in Santo Domingo.
The P#194 series spans production years 2017 through 2022, printed on cotton substrate with the full complement of modern security features expected at this face value — the OVI ink shift being the most immediately visible authentication tool for cashiers.
