Reverse description A full-length figure of a pilgrim, traditionally identified with Saint James (Santiago), stands to the right wearing a broad-brimmed hat, cloak, and pilgrim's scrip, and carrying a tall staff with a gourd. To the left of the central field appears an oval finely lined medallion, above which the Cross of Saint James (Cruz de Santiago) is depicted at the upper left. The mint mark of the Royal Mint of Spain appears to the right. The commemorative inscription XACOBEO 1999 is inscribed in the central field, with the denomination 2000 PTAS in large characters in the lower portion of the field.
