Obverse description The central field displays two coats of arms side by side: on the left, the royal arms of King Juan Carlos I of Spain, and on the right, the imperial arms of Emperor Charles V (Holy Roman Emperor, Charles I of Spain), both rendered in high relief. The dual heraldic composition commemorates the 500th anniversary of the birth of Emperor Charles V. The circular legend along the upper and lower periphery reads JUAN CARLOS I ESPAÑA, with the mint mark M and the denomination 2000 PTAS appearing within the field. The design is executed in a formal heraldic style consistent with Spanish commemorative coinage of the period.
