Obverse description Central to the obverse is a high-relief depiction of a laureate head facing left, rendered in the style of an ancient Greek or Roman sculptural medallion, set within a rope-bordered inner circle. The portrait, inspired by a classical antiquity prototype, features elaborately detailed hair entwined with laurel leaves. The engraver's signature U. PERNAZZA appears in the lower field below the inner border. The surrounding legend reads REPVBBLICA ITALIANA along the lower arc and ITALIA along the upper right, all in Latin capitals.
