| Reverse description | Fantasy reproduction of the Japanese Meiji-era silver Yen coin design of 1874. The central field displays the large kanji characters '壹圓' (One Yen) in high relief, flanked by two foliate sprays tied with a ribbon at the base. A chrysanthemum mon occupies the upper centre, with additional kanji weight and fineness inscriptions arranged to either side of the central motif. The date '1874' appears in Western numerals along the lower exergue, rendered in proof finish. |
