| Reverse description | A circular jade disc insert occupies the central area of the reverse, bearing Chinese characters reading 馬到萬事成 (meaning 'With the horse's arrival, all things succeed') arranged around a central medallion. Within the innermost circle, a gilt prancing horse is depicted facing left in high relief against a darkened background. Chinese characters 甲午 (Jiǎwǔ, the sexagenary cycle designation for the Year of the Horse) appear at the top of the field above the jade insert, which is itself surrounded by a broad silver border decorated in high relief with all twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac arranged in a continuous frieze. The legend THE YEAR OF THE HORSE arcs along the lower portion of the border, with the date 2014 below. |
